What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is pseudo-Latin filler text that has been the publishing industry's standard placeholder since the 1500s. It is derived from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of Cicero's de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC. The text was scrambled by an unknown printer to make a type specimen book — the jumbled words have a normal distribution of letter frequencies, which is why paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum look convincingly like real prose even though they carry no meaning.
Why designers use it
When a layout contains real English, readers instinctively start reading instead of evaluating the design. Lorem Ipsum looks like text but doesn't pull focus — it lets clients react to the shape of the copy (length, contrast, hierarchy) rather than its content. It's the standard for wireframes, UI mock-ups, print mock-ups, and design system examples.
How to use this generator
- Pick a Unit: paragraphs, sentences, words, or bullets.
- Set the Count (1 to 500).
- Choose Plain text or HTML output (HTML wraps each paragraph in
